In addition to helping students comprehend the main components of different cosmetic products and how they affect the biological structure of the skin, this course will teach them about the history of the cosmetic industry.

The skincare brand OLAY has introduced a new specialty course on the online learning platform Coursera. OLAY’s inaugural specialization course on the platform, Introduction to Cosmetic Science and Ingredients, aims to teach students the foundations of skin care and inspire more students to pursue careers in cosmetic science.

Anyone interested in cosmetic science can apply for $2 million in scholarships offered by Coursera and OLAY over the course of three years. A one-year membership to Coursera Plus, which offers over 6,900 courses, entry-level Professional Certificates, and practical projects that impart business, technology, and data science skills relevant to the workforce, will be given to 5,000 winners between 2024 and 2026.

Cosmetic scientists working for the company will instruct this new specialization course. In addition to helping students comprehend the main components of different cosmetic products and how they affect the biological structure of the skin, this course will teach them about the history of the cosmetic industry.
After completing the four courses, students will have the following understandings:

  • Skin physiology and how to model the skin
  • Skin care, skin issues, and how to recognize chemicals in skin care products that work
  • Basic methods and industry standards for developing inventive and long-lasting cosmetic formulas
  • Optimal procedures for putting cosmetic quality assurance and safety measures into effect
  • Olay and the online learning platform Coursera collaborated to develop a series of cosmetic science courses. These courses, created by Olay scientists, aim to simplify industry best practices and concepts. Anyone may master the fundamentals of the skincare industry and receive a cosmetic science credential on Coursera with courses taught by its very own scientists, regardless of whether the student is interested in skincare or is thinking about a career in the field.
