Gold Medal along and 14 New Scholarships Confirmed by Banaras Hindu University

The awarding of the Jogeshwari Giri and Akshaibar Gold Medals to the second-year MBA student with the highest CGPA was also approved by the council.

On Tuesday, the academic council of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) authorized the proposal for one gold medal and fourteen additional merit-cum-means scholarships. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain presided over the council, which included other members who talked on a range of topics related to the university’s academic and research endeavors as well as ways to increase productivity and performance all around.The council of BHU established a project monitoring unit in an effort to enhance the academic and research ecosystem even more.

Numerous gifts were made to the university in order to launch the Pratidana initiative’s scholarship program. The awarding of the Jogeshwari Giri and Akshaibar Gold Medals to the second-year MBA student with the highest CGPA was also approved by the council. This will be implemented beginning with the 2023–2024 school year.

The unit will work to resolve issues that have the potential of adversely affecting the teaching-learning activities”, said Prof. Jain. The Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences will gradually expand its scope of functioning.

Additional approved scholarships include:

– Mahamana Malaviya Biotechnology Scholarship, available for second-year MSc biotechnology students starting from the academic session 2024-25.

– Biswanath and Meera Bhattacharya Scholarship, designated for second-year MA Sanskrit students beginning from the academic session 2025-26.

– Jhingan Sahu Memorial Scholarship, allocated for first-year MFA (textile design) students commencing from the academic session 2024-25.

– Two C N R Rao Scholarships, open to final-year students pursuing BPA (vocal music and instrumental music respectively), effective from the academic session 2025-26.

– Uday Pratap Scholarship, intended for second-year MSc (Agriculture) students specializing in Mycology and Plant Pathology, starting from the academic session 2025-26.

– J N Gupta and Savitri Devi Scholarship, available for second-year MSc (physics) students starting from the academic session 2024-25.

– Ramswaroop Jamnadevi Maheshwari Scholarship, designated for first-year MBA students, beginning from the academic session 2024-25.

– Five SGVP Swaminarayan Scholarships, accessible to students within the faculty of SVDV, effective from the academic session 2023-24.

– Merit-cum-means scholarship for students of Central Hindu Girls School.

– The Awadh Raj Kumar Scholarship, designed for a class 9 student, effective from the academic session 2024-25.

The plans to introduce new courses and programs to the university’s affiliated institutions were also approved by the academic council.It has been approved for the Arya Mahila PG College to offer minor courses in geography, mathematics, and statistics.Mathematics and statistics are now offered as minor subjects at the Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya.The approval to begin the Undergraduate Diploma in Computer Application course has been given to Vasanta College for Women, Rajghat.

The new instructions issued by the academic council state that only ordinary UG and PG students of the university and affiliated college students would be eligible for the program, which includes part-time diploma or certificate courses. For full-time diploma programs, there will be a set amount of course hours, credits, and a minimal academic prerequisite.
