AIRSS 2024 in IIT Madras Commenced with Numerous Researchers and Experts Attending

The All India Research Scholars’ Summit (AIRSS) 2024, spanning four days, has commenced, drawing researchers from various disciplines. Hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the summit, organized by the Research Affairs Council, aims to explore recent advancements in diverse research domains. The event features oral presentations, poster sessions, and showcases of products and prototypes. Additionally, a panel discussion on ‘Research and Development: Catalysts for India’s Global Academic Standing’ took place, with participation from eminent directors of prominent academic institutions.

The primary aim of AIRSS 2024 is to delve into the latest advancements across various research domains, as highlighted in the press release.

The Research Affairs Council of IIT Madras is conducting the AIRSS 2024, as mentioned in a press release, which brings together researchers from diverse disciplines across India.

A central focus of AIRSS 2024 is to delve into the latest advancements in various research domains, showcased through oral presentations, poster sessions, and product/prototype displays. As part of the program, a panel discussion titled ‘Research and Development: Catalysts for India’s Global Academic Standing’ was held. The panel featured Dr V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, Dr Govindan Rangarajan, Director of IISC Bangalore, Dr B S Murthy, Director of IIT Hyderabad, Dr Aghila, Director, NIT Trichy, and Dr DVLN Somayajulu, Director of IIITDM Kurnool.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union MoS for Electronics and Information Technology, and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, addressed the inaugural session, expressing that a significant development would be the upcoming Bharat Semiconductor Research Centre. He outlined it as a globally recognized institution with collaboration among academia, government, private sector, and startups. Initially, it will be co-located with the Semiconductor Complex Limited.

Chandrashekhar further highlighted that the center is poised to become a leading hub for semiconductor research in the next decade. It aims to evolve into an independent semiconductor research organization, fostering competition and collaboration with entities like IMEC, MIT Microelectronics in the USA, and ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) in Taiwan.
