The updated compensation will be given to junior teachers in the state who have held contractual posts for three years.
In keeping with its pre-election perks, the Naveen Patnaik administration increased junior teachers’ monthly pay from ₹13,800 to 20,000 in elementary and upper primary schools throughout the State on Wednesday.
The updated compensation will be given to junior teachers who completed three years of contractual labor.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the increase will take effect retroactively on January 1, 2023. As many as 12,784 junior instructors in the State will profit from the decision to increase salaries. The increase will result in an extra ₹95 crore in annual costs for the State exchequer.
All Padma recipients in the state would receive a ₹25,000 honorarium, the state administration said early on Wednesday. Beginning in April of this year, the payments will be given in appreciation of their social contribution. The state government began providing economically disadvantaged Padma winners with honorariums of ₹10000 per month in July 2019. Four individuals in Odisha were awarded the Padma Shri in 2024, despite the fact that many others had already earned Padma awards.
The state’s PRI and sarpanch employees now receive higher pay and perks thanks to a government increase on Tuesday. According to the government, a sarpanch will now receive a monthly salary of ₹10,000 instead of ₹2,350, and a Naib Sarpanch will receive ₹4,000 instead of ₹490. Sarpanchs, Naib Sarpanchs, and ward members now receive ₹480 per day in allowance and sitting fees, up from ₹240 per day previously. In a similar vein, the Zilla Parishad president’s monthly salary has increased to ₹30,000 from ₹9,380. In addition, their sitting fees and daily allowance have been increased from ₹300 to ₹600.
