The PM SHRI School is a centrally sponsored scheme initiated by the Government of India. This endeavor aims to establish over 14,500 PM SHRI Schools managed by Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies, including KVS and NVS. These schools are envisioned to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for every student, offering a safe and stimulating atmosphere for learning, a diverse range of educational experiences, and adequate physical infrastructure and resources conducive to learning.

The objective is to cultivate students who are actively engaged, productive, and contributing members of society, in alignment with the principles outlined in the National Education Policy 2020. It is anticipated that more than 20 lakh students will directly benefit from this scheme. Furthermore, the scheme will facilitate an enhanced understanding of various aspects of school education quality and inform policy, practices, and implementation.

The insights gained from these schools will be disseminated to other educational institutions across the nation. The scheme is slated for implementation over a five-year period from 2022-23 to 2026-27.
