A B.Tech degree in AI and data analytics has been introduced by the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). The goal is developing competence in many facets of AI and its applications across diverse industries. The program is intended to give students the fundamental information and abilities they will need. Applications will be accepted for the following academic year of 2024–2025.
Applications for the 2024 batch of the program, which aims to develop skills in AI and data analytics, are presently being accepted. A maximum of fifty students can be admitted through the JEE exam. With a distinctive multidisciplinary approach, emphasis is placed on Math Fundamentals, Data Science/AI/ML Foundations, Application Development and Responsible Design.
Sunil Wadhwani, an IIT Madras alumnus and one of the co-founders of IGATE and Mastech Digital, founded the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI. It aims to rank among the world’s leading institutions specializing in AI and to advise governments and legislators on matters pertaining to data science and AI.
With the academic flexibility offered by the B.Tech programme, students can select from a wide range of electives both inside and outside of their field. Students can explore their passions with these electives, which range from Speech and Language Technology and Computer Vision to Control and Detection and Time-Series Analysis.
Numerous topics are covered in the core curriculum, such as calculus, machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and linear algebra. Pupils are given a comprehensive toolkit to address a variety of problems in this discipline. Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience through lab sessions, workshops and real-world projects, preparing them for industrial application.
Healthcare, language technology, responsible AI development and deployment for social impact, and responsible AI research are the main research areas of the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI.
