To enhance quality education in schools, Samagra Shiksha is developing a Teachers Competence Framework (TCF). This framework will emphasize teacher traits that can help provide a balanced and quality education to pupils.
“A workshop to finalise the framework is being organised in Chandigarh,” stated a Samagra Shiksha official.
The program, which will end on August 10, is co-organized by Samagra Shiksha (STARS), Himachal Pradesh University’s Inter-Disciplinary Studies Department, and the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) in Chandigarh.
The workshop has fifty-seven participants, including principals, lecturers, headmasters, TGTs, JBTs, and approximately 20 HPU researchers. The New Education Policy (NEP)-2020 established National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) to ensure quality school education in the country.
“In light of this, the state is developing a framework for its teachers.” It will include themes such as teacher communication skills, subject knowledge, the teacher-child interaction, new teaching methods, and the integration of art and athletics,” the spokeswoman stated. “This framework will ensure quality teaching, and make teachers aware of modern teaching methods.”
The Samagra Shiksha system is a comprehensive school education program that includes pre-kindergarten to class XII. The concept aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG-4) and views school education as a continuous process. The plan supports the implementation of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 and aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The scheme’s goal is to ensuring that all children have access to a high-quality education in an equitable and inclusive classroom setting that takes into account their diverse backgrounds, language requirements, and academic talents, as well as making them active learners.
The scheme has been extended for five years, from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
Goal SDG-4.1 reads as follows: “By 2030, ensure that all boys and girls complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes” .
