Brar, who just joined the Chandigarh administration, has received the job of director technical education, project director Educity, and additional secretary collaboration. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, a 2011 batch Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer who recently joined the UT administration, was appointed director of higher education in Chandigarh on Wednesday, succeeding PCS official Amandeep Bhatti.
According to the directives, Brar was also assigned the roles of director technical education, project director Educity, and extra secretary collaboration. Bhatti has been appointed additional secretary for higher education.
Brar, a 2011 batch officer, joined the Chandigarh administration on deputation in August 2015 and held the position of director, school education in UT. In 2021, he was released of his duties as director of school education and appointed chief general manager of Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO).
After seven years in Chandigarh, Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer Rubinderjit Singh Brar is about to return to the city administration on deputation. Punjab Governor and Union Territory Administrator Banwarilal Purohit approved Brar’s name for his deputation to Chandigarh.
Brar was removed of his position as CITCO again in March 2022 and returned to Punjab with other officials. The Chandigarh administration relieved Brar and three other officers — KPS Mahi, Navjot Kaur, and Jagjit Singh — and Punjab called them back on March 31, that same year. The decision came amid concerns that the four officials were “overstaying” their delegation period.
