Exams For Classes 10 And 12 On the CBSE Board to Start on February 15

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that board exams for classes 10 and 12 will commence on February 15, 2024, and continue until March 13 for class 10 and April 2 for class 12. The schedule will be the same for private candidates as well. This marks a shift from the previous year’s schedule when exams started on February 15. The decision was communicated to the public on Tuesday, December 12.

The move is part of CBSE’s annual examination cycle, providing students with a set timeframe to prepare for their exams. Last year, class 10 exams concluded on March 21, 2023, while class 12 exams were extended until April 5, 2023. CBSE’s recent announcement also indicated a change in the grading system, as the board decided not to award any division or distinction in class 10 and 12 boards. According to CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj, “No overall division, distinction, or aggregate of marks shall be awarded.”

Furthermore, if a candidate has offered more than five subjects, the admitting institution or employer may decide to determine the best five subjects. In terms of percentage calculation, CBSE clarified that it will not calculate, declare, or inform the percentage of marks. If the percentage of marks is required for higher education or employment, the calculation, if any, will be done by the admitting institution or employer.

This change aims to provide educational institutions and employers more flexibility in evaluating candidates based on their specific needs. Students can check the official timetables on the CBSE website, either at cbse.nic.in or cbse.gov.in. This information serves as a crucial guide for students and educators to plan and prepare effectively for the upcoming board examinations.
