Centurion University Hosts 12th Convocation, Celebrates Academic Excellence and Inclusion

One of the country’s most renowned institutes dedicated to excellence in academia and vocational pursuit, the Centurion University organized its Twelfth Convocation on 9 December 2024 at its Bhubaneswar campus. The occasion saw the conferral of degrees on 2,738 students of the 2024 batch besides graduating 138 batches, in addition to conferring 47 students with doctoral degrees.

The convocation was presided over by His Excellency Shri Raghubar Das Hon’ble Governor of Odisha and Visitor to the University. During the program, many dignitaries were there, in particular, the Chief Guest – Hon’ble Justice Shri Sandeep Mehta, Judge of Supreme Court of India, Guests of Honor – Dr. Sreedhar Panicker Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, and Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Encouraging the graduates to harvest technological advancements for the uplift of society, Dr. Sreedhar Panicker Somanath said in his address that innovation transforms with full force and students must develop and become the leaders of the future who will shape both the technological and social development of India. “Use knowledge for good of inclusive growth for betterment of the world, he appealed to graduates who assembled at the convocation”.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Supriya Pattanayak also addressed the gathering and wished the graduating students on their hard work and commitment.

She emphasized the importance of the university in striving for sustainable development and taking up the cause of providing innovative education and vocational training to underprivileged communities. “Centurion University stands as a symbol of inclusion and excellence, dedicated to creating an equitable society through education,” she said.

The event was a good way to celebrate the achievements of the graduates since 1699 students attended in person. Of these, 19 students were awarded gold medals, while 49 others won merit awards for outstanding performances in academic and co-curricular pursuits. Research and extracurricular activities were highly rewarded to ensure the holistic approach taken by the university in its education endeavors.

The Board of Governors, members of the academic council, faculty, and other dignitaries from diverse audiences, media persons, and guests attended the convocation. The event further reinforced the commitment of Centurion University towards nurturing talent, innovation, and inclusiveness in higher education.
